Heavy metal toxicity is one of the most common unrecognized causes of multiple vague, non-specific ailments and symptom complexes today.
Many people suffering a myriad of symptoms such as fatigue, headaches, numbness, tingling, loss of taste or smell, lack of energy, chronic pain and aching may be carrying toxic levels of heavy metals such as mercury or lead without even knowing it.
If you have had mercury amalgam fillings in your teeth (even if you have had them removed) or if you regularly dine on large ocean fish such as tuna, swordfish and halibut, you may be mercury-toxic and not know it.
Living on a Toxic Planet
Unfortunately, we live in a very toxic environment and our Palaeolithic bodies were never designed to remove the toxins of the industrialized world we live in.
Moving to a non-toxic planet isn’t currently an option, so what is the solution to heavy metals toxicity?
Testing and Treatment
Testing for heavy metal toxicity is inexpensive and easy.
Many of you have heard the term chelation but are not sure what it means. The word itself comes from the Greek word ‘chele’ which means claw.
Chelation is a technique whereby toxic substances and minerals are bound to a chelating agent and removed from the body. Typically, this therapy is used to remove to toxic heavy metals, such as mercury and lead.
Chelation can be performed in many ways varying from mild natural chelation with herbs and botanicals, oral chelation with pharmaceutical metal binders, and intravenous chelation, which is the most effective.
Treatments typically last up to three hours sitting or reclining in a comfortable chair or bed once or twice per week. At the end of the treatment, vitamins, nutrients and powerful antioxidants can be administered through intravenous to further promote the effects of the therapy.
Besides being extremely helpful in removing toxic metals from the body, intravenous chelation is also very helpful in helping to improve the circulation in people suffering from atherosclerosis, as well as stimulating new bone density in women with osteoporosis and osteopenia.
