Sex, Ozone, Telomere Anti-Aging Connection

What is Ozone Therapy?

Ozone is a naturally occurring gas in the atmosphere.  It is generated from oxygen when it is electrified.  This happens in the atmosphere by lightning storms. (Have you ever smelled the sweetness in the air after a lightning storm?  That is ozone.)

Medical ozone generators do the same thing in a controlled chamber.  We are then able to channel that gas directly into the blood stream.

What Does Ozone Do?

The properties of ozone are to decrease inflammation and boost the immune system.  Ozone is toxic to cancer cells, bacteria, viruses and yeast cells. The result of treatments is that the body is better able to fight off these cells and organisms.

Ozone Therapy is not “New”

Medical ozone treatments have been used routinely for fighting infections in hospitals for over 100 years, before the discovery of antibiotics in the 1920’s. Most medical societies decided it was much easier to take a pill to fight infections than to administer ozone and it was largely abandoned.

However, in some countries such as Germany and Russia it was continued as a valuable treatment. It is routinely used to sterilize surgical equipment, operating rooms, and swimming pools.

Recently there has been a resurgence of interest in medical ozone because of the emerging problem of antibiotic resistant organisms and the fear of “Super Bugs”.

No Adverse Side Effects

Many conditions can be dramatically improved with 3-5 weekly treatments and then maintained by monthly treatments.

These treatments are an affordable way to have a stem cell therapy, WITH NO SIDE EFFECTS!

Complications and adverse reactions to pharmaceuticals are the third leading cause of death in hospitals, right behind cancer and heart attacks!

Ozone is tolerated by everyone and after hundreds of thousands of treatments worldwide there are no reported adverse side effects or reactions.

What Could Ozone have to do with Sex?

Ozone treatments have been investigated for numerous health benefits. Most involve treating and reversing disease. However, there are additional benefits from Ozone therapy not commonly discussed.

Two of these areas involve generalized anti aging benefits, and the potential for improving sexual function, arousal and orgasmic responsiveness.

As we age one of the primary causes of our loss of normal body function is due to “oxidative damage”, or more commonly referred to as the “Free Radical theory of aging”.

Free radicals are by-products of exposure to toxic chemicals in our food chain and environment. They can damage the delicate tiny organelles in the mitochondria of our cells that are responsible for creating energy.

As we age, more of these energy producing structures are lost resulting in the gradual decline of energy and normal body function. Continued damage can lead to chronic infectious diseases, cancer, diabetes, autoimmune disease and even atherosclerosis synonymous with accelerated aging.

The accelerated aging process may be manifested via the shortening of the telomeres. Telomeres are the tail ends of the DNA in cells. Telomerase is an enzyme that is critical for DNA repair and regeneration. Telomerase activity has been shown to deteriorate with age.

Research has shown that anti oxidants and nutrients that boost the anti oxidant systems in the body can be protective.

Repetitive ozone treatments have been shown to act as a potent anti oxidant to boost telomerase activity, protect the mitochondria from damage of free radicals and therefore prevent DNA deterioration.

Would this Slow the Aging Process?

Every individual is different. Response to ozone treatments vary depending on what other damaging events are occurring in the body. The good news is that ozone is completely non toxic and harmless.

Unlike pharmaceutical agents, there are no adverse side effects to consider. Ozone is extremely well tolerated.

The aging process is complicated and not just linked to one system. Certainly hormones, genetics, toxic exposure, the immune system, life style, stress and nutrition all contribute.

How can Ozone Therapy Improve Sexuality?

Ozone therapy has been shown to increase endothelial nitric oxide synthase. This is an enzyme residing in the cells lining artery walls.

By boosting this enzyme one will produce more nitric oxide in the artery wall.  Nitric oxide is well known to dilate blood vessels, thus resulting in increased blood flow. In addition, ozone has been seen as an activator of stem cells with the consequent stimulation of new tissue regeneration and repair.

Sexual function decline has been postulated to result from decrease in blood flow to sexual organs in both men and women with age. By boosting endothelial nitric oxide and stem cell activity, resulting in improved blood flow to organs, sexual responsiveness can be improved.
